toronto-goth.com has been presenting the weekly "return to the Catacombs" night since late 2004. Catacombs is Toronto's only weekly all ages dark club night. Each Sunday, DJs Steven and guests spin goth/industrial at the Vatikan, located at 1032 Queen St. W. Some nights feature special performances.

To celebrate our favourite holiday, Hallowe'en, there will be a very special return to the Catacombs on Sunday October 30th.

While there has never been a cover for the regular weekly Catacombs events, there will be one on October 30th, but it will be well worth the price of admission, as you will read below.

This event will feature ten bands: Perdition, New Love Army, A Random Exit, Nanochrist, Anti-Hero, MDM, Sangsara, Restricted Viewing, Trench Run, and Pleasure the Priestess.
Please note that Hypofixx will not be performing. Click here for statement.

DJs will be spinning in between the bands. The Torture Technician will be returning to Catacombs all the way from NY along with DJ Triple X (of Mars Bar fame), EBM (CIUT.fm) as well as DJ DemEntia (toronto-goth.com).

Minx Clothing will be presenting a costume fashion show.

Patrons are also encouraged to wear their own costumes for the night.

A festive atmosphere would not be complete without vendors displaying their dark wares. Bring your extra money in preparation for your visits to Black Orchid Designs, Reaperz Ripperz, Dawn to Dusk Gifts and Zombie's Brain Juices. Some of the bands who'll be performing will also have merchandise available for purchase.

Door prizes, contests, and spooky fun await you at the Catacombs on October 30th. See you there !

The Bands:

Perdition is a Toronto, Canada based band. They create an emotional response in their listeners with a refreshing mix of goth, metal and a touch of industrial. They bring real gothic music back to the stage and stereo, with a smooth mix of masterful electronic programming, and aggressive guitars. The lyrics and overall sound tell a story with musical and emotional intensity..

A Random Exit is an electronic/organic band with members in Toronto and Sudbury. Originally conceived in 1999 by Mike Goat and Granto as a rhythym-based project focusing on hypnotic, floor-pounding arrangements complemented by live instruments, ARE developed a cult following throughout Northern Ontario. In late 2000, the duo performed on "The Zero Signal", an industrial-tinged radio show on Sudbury's CKLU hosted by Nathan Plastic. By late 2001, Nathan joined the band as lead vocalist, bringing a more confrontational energy and charismatic presence to ARE's live shows. As a trio, the band have been described as creating dark electro grooves, measuring out graceful synths with swirling, sub-bass noise on songs dealing with sex, obsession, and fatalism. ARE's first full-length CD "Perdition" was released in the spring of 2003 and has received some significant college radio and club play, in part for their cover of Dead Can Dance's "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove." The New Scream show marked their first live Toronto appearance.

Equal parts Metal, Industrial, and Prog Rock, Nanochrist are hard to categorize. But three things are for certain: They are always heavy, interesting, and unpredictable. Influenced by artists as diverse as Rush, Strapping Young Lad, Nine Inch Nails, Peter Gabriel, Fear Factory, Pitchshifter and Frank Zappa, Nanochrist mesh parts of many genres into a unique style of their own

To label London, Ontario-based ANTI-HERO a grunge or alternative band would short change anyone who loves pure rock ‘n’ roll. These four inspired performers - Rose, Nic, Jesse and Matty - are providing fans of a myriad of music genres with a cauldron of constant creative inspiration. It’s evident in their début CD, Unpretty, and it’s visible during their exhausting, exhilarating performances. ANTI-HERO may be at an early career juncture, and each member may borrow from a diverse musical background ranging from punk to opera, but their love and respect for the roots of rock ‘n’ roll shines brightly, whether on stage, or in studio producing priceless, timeless pieces.

In a music scene stagnant with boy bands, pseudo punk rock and generic rock and roll, MDM is a clean breath of fresh air. Combining elements of Techno, Metal and Industrial they’ve formulated a style of music that is both powerful and heavy, yet melodic and catchy. MDM is a three-piece electronic band from Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada, with a legion of devoted fans spanning the globe. MDM's stage performance is where the truly shine. Each show has a new twist keeping it fresh and exciting. From metal grinders and video effects to their intense light show and cage dancers, they round out the performance to make the stage show look as big as the heavy-bottomed beats blasting through the P.A. From one show to the next, you'll never know what to expect. MDM is not your traditional everyday band; they are modern and spontaneous with a great love for what they do. They always give a night to remember and leave you begging for more!!!

Sangsara's music melds poignant lyrics with hard-hitting electronics, reaching out to the listener on a deeply emotional level.

Industrial, Future pop redefined as a whole. Front man Jeremy Vancaulart created Restricted Viewing in December 2002 and that was about it. Restricted Viewing remained a secret until something fiercely pushed it out of its shell. Brooding anger from the murder of a friend released the emotion which is now known by several people whom follow Restricted Viewing like a cult. Jeremy Vancaulart decided to get the full message across he needed to employ someone that could portray the same emotional response that he was. Daniel Chiasson became the live keyboard player and then quickly learned the ropes and became a programmer at Jer’s side. Slowly the music was let out and slowly the response came in. The song ‘Obsession’ took immediate placement on the soundclick.com industrial charts making spot 11 in the first 3 weeks of any Restricted Viewing material being released. To date Restricted Viewing actively plays shows in Toronto, ON and vows to never stop

Toronto based band Trench Run is comprised of Andrew Hunter (Vocals, Guitar), John Trambakoulos (Guitar) and Dimitra (Synthesizers, Samplers). With elements of 80's new wave and synthpop, 90's industrial and 21st century darkwave, Trench Run creates a unique soundscape. Dancefloor beats, dense layers of synthesizers and heavy guitars surround songs about love and life in the machine.

Pleasure The Priestess is a new Electronic Industrial duo heavily influenced by Gothic and Synth-Pop. Matt Carty (vocals and lead programmer) has lead previous projects such as the darkly emotional electronic band Plastic Vein, sensual dance experiment The Beatfrequency and multiple soundtracks for indie-horror flicks. Jeremy Crow, former keyboardist of Plastic Vein's live incarnation and assistant sound designer for Spider Island Sound, is now diving head first into the adrenaline drenched world of drums and percussion.
